In its simplest form, entrepreneurship is about creating something out of nothing. PrintingMoney.com is inspired by entrepreneurs around the world who create something out of nothing every single day and essential “Print Money”.
Follow along my journey where you see me do crazy stuff everyday as an online business owner, car enthusiast, extreme situations and sport junkie.
Below I have posted an extended version of my story, who I am, how I started making money online, some of my trials and tribulations and most importantly my successors.
By 2014 I had gone from sleeping in my car in 2009 to earning over Twenty Million Dollars.
I will never forget the day when one of the people I loved the most told me to give up on my dreams. It kind of felt like when you put a dog to sleep. You do this because you don’t want to see them suffer anymore. It’s that heart breaking feeling, that deep pain like someone’s just punched you in the stomach. It makes you question everything and really sit back and think if you should go on any further…
They told me to go back to school or just get a high paying job while I was still young enough. At my lowest point it didn’t sound like a half bad idea.
By 2014 I had gone from sleeping in my car in 2009 to earning over $20,000,000. Yes I know that sounds unreal and crazy but I will explain. I created a web hosting company in 2011 and went on to sell it in 2014…
The crazy thing about it is that it was harder for me to make my first $250,000 in a single year than it was to earn $7 million in a year. What’s even crazier is the fact that I didn’t even set out to make that much. At the time when I made my first $250k, I worked so hard that I got depressed. I just wanted freedom and I thought if I made a million I would have to work 10x harder.
But then my mentor shared a few things with me that altered my life forever…
Before I share this with you, let me tell you what this is NOT. I have seen my fair share of crap online. Let me break down real quick how I did not get rich. I didn’t have $5 one week, put it in a matrix and end up with $94,403 in 2 hours. I also didn’t recruit 5 people in to my MLM’s, who then got 5 people and we all lived happily ever after.
Now all jokes aside, “I know some cool folks in MLM’s”, but… That’s not my game.
It’s been quite some time now since selling my company and I wanted to take a moment today to explain how it all happened for me. I see a few stories on business insider and everything but they never go into detail on how they made it all happen…
If my story can help someone going through something, I feel it’s worth putting it out there. This is the first time I’m ever sharing my story publicly like this. When you are running a hosting company nobody needs to know who you are. Oh, if you don’t know what a hosting company is, think GoDaddy. Which funnily enough, they were actually at one point in the talks of acquiring my company.
I am going to lay it all out for you, and I promise a lot of you will say I would not go through that to get to my dreams. I would rather live comfortable than ever have to deal with that type of struggle.
I see so many folks who are earning $50k, $80k, $150k even $200k in their business who are just a few small tweaks away from tripling or even 10x their business within a few months.
It was like that for me.
I am going to share a few things that radically changed my life in ways that are incomprehensible to the average person.
I hear claims all the time like “I am going to show you how to 10x your biz instantly”. But they haven’t even figured out how 2x their own business.
I will share specific details on how I accomplished this. Not just general info with no real answer…
One important factor is to understand my backstory a little more.
I have never really fit in at most places. School never really excited me. It was actually during school that I began questioning life. Here we are, sitting in class learning algebra and history and I’m probably never going to use it my life! It made no sense.
I guess you can say, I had a bit of the entrepreneur mindset even at that age… I sold burnt CD’s to the other kids, bike parts, car parts. I even started my own ebay biz, importing parts and selling them with a hefty markup. I remember getting “toilet” passes so I could sneak off to the library to bid on auctions and then resell at other auctions!
It was this kind of stuff that sparked my interest in business! Not by sitting in class and listening to a teacher tell me I’m never going to amount to anything.
But those teachers didn’t know me… My dreams were huge, I just had no direction. I knew the life I wanted but had no idea how to get there…
I remember getting an email from a guy named John Reese. He was offering a course to generate traffic for your business. This was in 2007. I bought that course for $2000
and I had about $2200 at the time.
When I am in, I am all chips in. I’ve never been the type of person to play with one foot in. And it’s doing things this way that’s opened my eyes to a whole new world…. For the next year I became a student. But this time round I got to learn what I wanted… I bought course after course. I was finally learning about something I was truly passionate about!
But passion did not equate into cold hard cash. It was time to put what I learned into action. One problem is that I didn’t have 2 coins to rub together…
For 10 months, instead of having a nice warm bed to sleep in, a good night for me was good weather so I could lay out under the stars in my sleeping bag. If the weather was not playing on my side I would ball up in my car and go to sleep.
There are a lot of moments I remember so vividly during that time of my life. One in particular stands out from the rest. It was about 40 degrees Celsius outside and 10pm (about 100 degrees Fahrenheit)…
I had a meeting early the next day to close a client for a deal. I needed a good night’s sleep to be fresh in the morning. I was debating on turning on the AC in the car as it was going to cost about $1.50 an hour to idle the car…
While I was laying there before sleeping, I kind of looked up to skies and said, “If I get a second chance I am not going to squander my opportunity.”
I’m not sharing this so you can feel sorry for me. I share this because I get offended by people’s excuses to why they can’t move forward in life.
They say to me, “You don’t understand my situation ………..”
Enough about my story. I want to share the specifics of when life changed for me.
How did I go from homeless with over $70k in credit card debt to $250k then explode to 7 figures annually?
First and foremost, getting around people WALKING THE WALK. You will be spinning your tires for a long time if you follow the wrong folks.
I will share one specific story. It was around 2009 and there was an event in San Diego
I was invited to. Only one problem, I needed a $1000 for a plane ticket and
$1000 for spending money.
Long story short I ended up raising funds and made my way to San Diego. There was Kern, Reese, Walker, Proctor, Shah, Trainer, Moffatt and many others.
Then one night I ended up at dinner with them at the Nobu’s at the Hard Rock hotel. I had
no idea at the time how much the food was, and when the bill came it was $7,500 for all
us!!!
There was only 8 of us. I was kind of dumbfounded that they spent so much on the dinner. It was a mental shift in my brain that happened. A 2 hour dinner was as much as I was making in 6 months!
Sidenote: That humbled me at the same time. I didn’t know Matt Trainer too well back then but I had to be square with him and tell him I had about $200 to my name and I needed to survive another 3 days in San Diego…
He told me, “Don’t worry about it”. I said, “I will worry about it and I will get you back because I am a person of integrity”. He’s now one of my best friends today. When he was moving homes he stayed in my house. It’s kind of funny how everything comes full circle.
Anyway, at the event what they shared with us altered my world. Once you have a product, two things will take you to the promise land faster than anything. The right funnel + traffic. It sounds simple enough. When I heard it from my heroes directly it was like I internalized it because I heard it as truth vs just hearing it.
The second specific thing you need to do is implementation. One of the biggest factors I see that holds a lot of great folks back is implementing quickly. The biggest difference I see with 6 and 7 figure earners is the speed of which they implement.
One of the main factors of implementation is know how. I swallowed all my pride and ego and was not afraid to ask for help.
I have smashed the $5 million a year mark and that was largely due to shadowing people
who have come and done it before me. I am now focused on 8 figures annually and I am always the student.
The third thing is giving back to future entrepreneurs. If the legends who came before didn’t care to reach back to me, I would not be here typing this message to you.
One of my greatest joys in life is having someone say, “Mitch my life changed so much because of you.” The high I receive off that is truly empowering.
For the last year I have been semi-retired… But I now want to use my time for something fulfilling. I desire to work with entrepreneurs who are looking to take their businesses to 7 figures.
